Garbani Isabelle

Plastic Artist - France

Isabelle Garbani is a Brooklyn-based artist that uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts like knitting, crochet and lace. She is originally from France, having immigrated to the US at the age of 17. Her departure, which was supposed to be temporary, has shaped her adult life and the choices of themes and materials. Her latest work “Hangin’ Out To Dry” has become more politicized, focusing on issues of cultural power and gender structure.
